Wow, another amazing turnout this year for the Campbell River Comets. The kids are enthusiastic and ready for another memorable year for the Comets. Let's challenge ourselves this year at the track and break some Personal Best by pushing your limits in training and competition to be the best you can be.
Practice is cancelled March 30th and April 1st of the spring break. Have a great spring break. See you April 5th (Monday) and April 8th for those that want to train over spring break.

Congratulations to Emily who accepted a Full Ride Scholarship for the NCAA 1 Nicholls State University.
The school I chose is in Thibadoux, Louisiana, which is in the heart of Cajun Country. It is called Nicholls State University. The reasons I chose this school is the coach offered me a full ride, and I thought he suited me for a coach.
Congratulations again. You earned it with hard work and determination.
Austin Johnson makes the Summer Games Team with a silver in Triple Jump at Nanaimo May 22nd and 23rd this past weekend. Josephine is still a hopeful if things work out.
Carrigan Lutman, Nathan Allemekinders, and Josephine Simpson were the other athletes competing for a birth to the games. They gave in their best effort and this is all a coach can ask.
Josephine may still make it after the other zones have filled their rosters. If the other zones cannot fill their rosters these spots will be awarded to zones that have athletes that can fill them.
Paul has updated the result website:
|"The results include the Nanaimo meet in which there were 84pb's and 46 top three finishes. Amazing results... The club top ten 2006-2010 results have also been updated. As always if you notice I've made any mistakes just drop me an email and I will correct during the next posting."
This is fantastic for the athletes and coaching staff. |Great work everyone. Keep up the great work. This is what it is all about - getting better, getting results while having fun.
Emily Charlesworth and Chyanne Trenholm did very well at the very competitive BC High School Championships. Emily in her senior year finished 4th, and a personal best time for the 3000 meter race. Three hours later she raced and qualified for the finals in the 1500 meter race slated for Saturday. She captured a bronze medal there.
Chyanne Trenholm did very well in the 400 meter hurdles. As a grade 10 competing against 11 and 12's totaling 27 athletes she qualified to race the finals slated on Saturday. She made it to the finals with the time of 70.22. She bumped out 2 other girls with times of 70.24 and 70.26. On Saturday she placed 7th in the finals.
Josephine Simpson is now going to Summer Games in Langley, July 22-25. The games is a great experience and fun. Congrats Josephine!
July 16-18/10. BC T&F Championships Jamboree - Midget (14/15) to Senior inclusive (Abbotsford)
Emily Charlesworth, Chyanne Trenholm, Ayla Akehurst, and Josie Simpson achieved personal best and great results this weekend. Emily got under the 4:40 mark in the 1500, Chyanne took off a couple of seconds in the 300 hurdles, and Ayla made Team BC to compete at the Nationals. Great work.

Five members of the Campbell River Comets Track and Field Club traveled to Kamloops on the August long weekend, to compete in the BC Provincial Junior Development Track and Field Meet.
Despite hot, smoky conditions and very tough provincial competition, the athletes came home with many medals, ribbons and posted personal best times.
Madison Ashcroft came home with two bronze medals; one in the 800 meter run and one for triple jump with a personal best distance. She also competed in javelin (fifth) and the 400 meter run (fourth) and in both events she achieved personal bests.
Cassidy Hinsberger had a very strong performance, despite battling injuries throughout the season. She had three runs over the span of the weekend; the 400 meter (ninth); 800 meter (ninth) and 1500m (fifth) and also participated in two field events: long jump and discus (sixth) in which she threw a personal best distance.
Two medals were won by Brendan Hoff competing in the 800m and 1500m races. He received a silver medal in each event, and also placed sixth in javelin.
Megan Nuttall had good performances in the 3000m (fifth), 800m (fifth) and 1500m (fourth) with a personal best time. She also posted personal best results in the triple jump, javelin and shot put.
Seever Rondquist had an impressive meet, bringing home three medals in the throwing events. He threw a personal best distance in both shot put and javelin and received a gold medal in each event. In discus he threw for a bronze medal and in the 100 meter dash he came in fourth.
All five athletes need to be commended for their effort and good sportsmanship. The conditions were far from favourable, the competition was fierce and yet their results were outstanding. Thanks also to the parents and families who were there and the support they gave to all the kids. Although it was a small group of athletes, Campbell River was well represented.
The athletes would like to thank their coaches, Dale Trenholm, Mark Freeland, Vince Sequeira, Heather Miller and John Akehurst for their dedication to training throughout the track season. They would also like to express their appreciation to head coach Dale Trenholm for the extra effort he put in to ensure that the athletes were physically and mentally ready for this challenging meet.

If you have more photos of other athletes please send to me
Congrats on the race Thursday at Vanier everyone... Chy and Cassidy came home with gold, Megan close behind Cassidy. Seever, Josie and Madison did very well. Remember to compare to no one except the reason you are training and the goals you have. Some athletes training are conditioning for the spring track season. Everyone's limits are different. So good job everyone.
Also, the race in Campbell River. Great work. Next race is in Victoria.
